Financial Aid
The MDC Board of Trustees scholarship is awarded to students who are graduating with an Associate's Degree and planning on pursuing a Bachelor's Degree. The scholarship is valued at $5,000. Eight students are selected to receive the award - one from each campus.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be an Associate’s degree-seeking student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Must have a minimum 3.50 cumulative Grade Point Average.
- Must demonstrate financial need
- If applicant transferred from another institution, he or she must have earned the majority of their credits at Miami Dade College.
Students must submit the following:
1. An essay, at least 500 words on the following topic: "Explain your long-range educational goals and write a brief statement as to why you deserve the award for which you are applying"
2. Copy of your current Miami Dade College unofficial transcript
3. A resume
4. At least two letter(s) of recommendation addressed to the Miami Dade College Board of Trustees Transfer Scholarship Committee. (One must be from a College Faculty)
5. Proof of service hours completed
6. The completed SAI Calculator for 2023-2024 if FAFSA is not on file
7. Proof of Admissions application sent to a senior institute or an acceptance letter

We encourage all applications to be submitted electronically. The deadline to apply is March 21st, 2024.
2024-2025 MDC Essay-based Scholarship
You will be asked a series of questions that will help us find the right MDC scholarship for you. The deadline is May 1st.
First Year Student Scholarships
Did you just graduate high school and are entering college for the first time? These scholarships may be for you. Students can only receive 1 First Year Student Scholarship.
- American Dream
An MDC award that covers the in-state portion of tuition for two years of courses for all Miami Dade high school graduates who qualify.
- Fast Track Sharks
Get an early start to your college education by enrolling in the summer term following high school graduation. You can earn up to 6 credits at no cost!
- Future Ready
Miami Dade College’s Future Ready Miami-Dade Scholarship ensures all Miami-Dade County residents can complete an associate degree at Miami Dade College at zero cost.
- The Honors College
This scholarship covers all in-state tuition, fees and books and is available to high-achieving students who are accepted into the Honors College. Recipients have the flexibility to use other scholarships for living expenses and supplies.
- MDC Presidential Scholars
This program offers customized services and opportunities. The scholarship covers tuition and fees for two years for courses for Miami Dade graduates who qualify. Recipients will also receive a $500.00 stipend during the fall and spring terms and $250.00 during the summer term.
- Rising Scholars Program
Provides free tuition for up to two years, plus academic and co-curricular experiences to equip students with the knowledge, resources, and skills for success.
